FAQ

What does "cold-pressed" mean?

Cold pressed juicing is different to a standard home juicer, as it slowly and delicately presses the raw produce, extracting a vibrant juice that is not exposed to heat. When it is pressed in this way, the nutrients in the produce are kept in tact resulting in a longer shelf life, higher level of nutrients, and beautiful consistency. This is contrary to a standard centrifugal juicer which works by shredding the produce up as it spins around. This shredding tears the nutrients apart and begins degrading them - meaning the juice will need to be consumed within 30 minutes to have any real benefit. The cold-press process really is a labour of love! And ensures you get absolute maximum benefits from the raw produce we put in.

What is the shelf life of your juices?

As our cold-pressed juices are 100% natural and unpasteurised made from raw ingredients, they have a best before window of 5 days. Please check the best before date labelled on the bottom of your bottle and ensure you drink your juices within this timeframe. We juice fresh to order and ship on express overnight courier to ensure you are receiving the freshest product possible. Please refrigerate as soon as possible upon receipt.

Do you use organic produce?

We try our very best to source organic and local produce wherever possible. However depending on the season and the produce, this is not always possible.

When juicing, we do not add any preservatives or apply any chemical processes, so you can be sure your juice is filled with clean, raw goodness.

Is your product suitable if I am taking medication or have a health condition?

Our range of juices are 100% natural with no additives or preservatives. They are also unpasteurised, therefore we do recommend that you complete your own research or consult your healthcare professional if you are unsure whether our juices are suitable for you. We also recommend to exercise your own discretion in regard to our cleanses, as this process involves substituting your main meals with juice and may not be suitable for those with severely compromised health.

Important to note that our Charcoal Tonic is a detoxifying agent and therefore should not be consumed within 2 hours of taking any prescribed medication or supplements. Again, please consult your healthcare professional if unsure.

Do you cater to dietary requirements?

Our products are gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free.

However, please note that we are not nut-free as we produce our juices on the same line as our nut milks. While we are extremely thorough with our procedures in between juicing, there may be traces and therefore our products are not suitable for those with nut allergies.

Our Mermaid Tonic contains blue spirulina and we recommend to complete your own research first if you have any allergies to seafood, seaweed and other sea vegetables.

Do you have a sugar-free option?

Our Mermaid and Charcoal Tonics are both low sugar. If you are looking for a custom zero-sugar option, please email us for options.

What are the benefits of completing a cleanse?

A cleanse gives our bodies the chance to have a break, and can be both an incredibly transformative physical and mental process. By consuming the juice in the absence of food, the body has a break while being flooded with nutrients in an incredibly easily digestible form. Often over this time we begin to recognise how mindlessly we eat, and that can change our focus as we reintroduce food. This is ideal if you haven't been feeling 100%, maybe tired and worn out, and feel like your system needs a bit of a reboot!

Am I allowed to eat during a cleanse?

Each cleanse comes with a guide that details how to carry out the cleanse. Though traditionally a cleanse would mean you omit the consumption of food and replace this with the juices, we believe that a body under stress will not benefit as well from a cleanse as it will not be absorbing nutrients as intended. Stress raises hormones such as cortisol in the body, which can divert resources from the gut to the extremities for a fight or flight response. This does not prioritise absorption of nutrients, and therefore is not ideal to be under stress if cleansing. Hunger is a stress response, and therefore it would be more beneficial to add in nuts, salads, soups (easily digested foods) if you felt the need, than to push through and not enjoy the experience.

Water is also key to help flush everything through the system. We recommend that you add around 2 to 3 litres of water or herbal tea on top.

How long should I cleanse for?

This really depends on your individual needs, however if it is your first time completing a cleanse then we would recommend starting off with 1 to 2 days. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to email us. We are more than happy to guide you along the way.
